A MOTHER’S WORK.....
Calling all Mums! Drop a strong hint that you’d like to go to award winning Chiltern Open Air Museum this weekend to show your family that ‘a Mothers Work is’ truly never done! Celebrating Mothering Sunday , the Museum this year is preparing a Weekend Special event with a difference, as your family will be able to join in the Mothers Day celebrations and see how ‘mothers’ role has developed over the years. The event is being sponsored by Tesco in Gerrards Cross who are donating free daffodils for the first two hundred lucky mums!
Museum Education Officer Melissa Maynard has lots of great activities planned and is sure that all the family will enjoy the visit. Says Mel: ‘We have an exciting Mothering Sunday Weekend Special planned and visitors will be able to experience some of the tasks women in the past were involved in to run their homes and contribute to the household income.’
Continues Mel: ‘Visitors will be able to meet the 1940s land girl/shepherdess as she goes about her daily work looking after the mums-to-be. Then visit the village to have a go at some of the cottage industries run by women in the past and the Victorian tollgate keeper’s wife will also be keeping watch over our toll house this weekend. And much more!’
And calling all children and dads! Hurry along and make sure your mum is one of the lucky ones to receive a lovely daffodil!
