About the Museum:
Chiltern Open Air Museum is set in 45 acres of parkland and woodland. It is home to over 30 buildings ranging from a replica Iron Age House to Victorian agricultural buildings and a 1940s Prefab. The Museum preserves the heritage of the Chilterns, which includes furnishing all our buildings as homes or places of work allowing your class to put their learning into context.
Our educational visits provide a visual and direct learning experience especially for Early Years, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two children, with strong cross-curricular links to the National and Foundation Stage Curricula. A visit to the Museum also supports the National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies.
Educational visits for Key Stage 3 are also available and can support the History and Art curricula as well as the National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies. These can be tailored for use during a Summer School.
Key Stage 4 and Further Education study or field trips are suitable for courses ranging from Museum and Heritage Studies or Tourism to Environmental Science. These can be tailor made to meet your requirements.
