Early Years

Our story based workshops for 3 to 5 year olds are designed so that thee very flexible and therefore ensure that your group's needs are met. They are available either as a half day visit* or as a full day visit (usually from 10.00 am until 2.15 pm) for up to 30 children per group.

These workshops have a special price of £110.00 per workshop per class,
with a maximum of 2 groups per day.

“Goldilocks and the Three Bears” After listening to the traditional tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears build the bears’ home in the woods, enjoy a bowl of porridge cooked over an open fire and make a bear mask to take home. "Goldilocks and the Three Bears"
“The Three Little Pigs” After listening to the   traditional tale of The Three Little Pigs build your own houses from straw, sticks and bricks. Later look at some different houses from the past including the brick toll house. The Three Little Pigs Information Sheet
Baby Owls After listening to the story of “Owl Babies” your class will follow the owl sounds to find the mice hiding in the woods to feed the baby owls. Afterwards your class will make owl collages that can be displayed in your classroom. Baby Owls

“The Enormous Turnip” After listening to the traditional tale of The Enormous Turnip explore the Prefab’s vegetable plot and allotment. Then create a garden collage and sow seeds to take home with you.

Based on Beatrix Potter’s tale of the helpful hedgehog, help us to do the washing the old-fashioned way and then make a pinecone hedgehog to take home.

‘Forest School’ or the Museum’s own ‘History School’ Book a series of weekly visits to support your outdoor curricula. We will work in partnership with you to plan each session together.

Whether taking part in Forest School or exploring how children lived in the past we offer a safe environment to promote enjoyment and self esteem while supporting your curriculum.

*For local nursery groups we can arrange workshops at: 9.00 am until 11.00 am, 9.30 am until 11.30 am, 12.30pm until 2.30 pm or 1.00 pm until 3.00 pm. These shorter sessions include time for snacks, which your group provides.

For Reception classes a full day can include some of the Key Stage 1 workshops, at the normal school group prices.
