Chiltern Open Air Museum's 45 acre countryside site provides a warm, friendly and welcoming environment for any group. Recall days gone by with a relaxing stroll around the Museum, stopping in at the various historic buildings nestled within the parkland and woodland. There are also many seats placed around the Museum where you can site and enjoy the views. Then take a break for a refreshing light lunch or tea at our wonderful Wood End Cafe.
By pre-booking your visit with friends or family you can enjoy a day at the Museum to its fullest! Activities, demonstrations or a guided tour can all be arranged for your group, or just avoid the queues at one of our living history re-enactment events (group booking rates are not available for Halloween). We can also provide some additional catering for your group.

Exclusive evening opening for your group |
Chiltern Open Air Museum's 45 acre countryside site provides a warm, friendly and welcoming environment for any group. With exclusive access to the Museum on a warm summer's evening (from 5.00 pm until 9.00pm) your visit will be even more special.
Recall days gone by with a relaxing stroll around the Museum, stopping in at the various historic buildings nestled within the parkland and woodland. There are also many seats to sit around the Museum where you can quietly sit and enjoy the views.
This service is available from June until September and by pre-booking (7 days notice required) only. To enhance your visit we have a selection of activities, demonstrations or a guided tour, as well as additional catering, which can be arranged for your group.
A single payment of £250 for the EXCLUSIVE use of the Museum site for up to 40 people, including a guided tour. |
Plus £60 per extra 20 people. |

Youth Groups |
Chiltern Open Air Museum provides an enjoyable and inclusive day out for children and
young people of all ages and abilities where everyone will learn something new. Our 45 acre countryside site
contains over 30 historic buildings, furnished as homes and places of work, and allows children the
freedom to explore the past through visual and hands-on experiences, as well as providing the space to run
around, have fun and hold a picnic.
Our fun pre-bookable activities promote sharing, the use of tools, team work and
creativity and once booked are only for your group! Alternatively, take part in our Hands-on Holidays
programme or visit us during one of our living history re-enactment events (group booking rates are not
available for the Country Fair, or Halloween).

Children's Birthday Parties |
Are you looking for an alternative venue for your child's birthday party? Chiltern Open Air Museum offers an inclusive birthday package:
- A party bag for each child
- A picnic lunch/tea for each child
- A 'traditional toys and games' activity workshop led by a Museum Teacher
- An additional activity workshop
of your choice led by a Museum Teacher
- Access to the adventure playground and Museum
Birthday parties take a minimum of 3 hours and are available throughout the 2010 season

The Victorian Blacksmith |
Each village had a blacksmith who could make anything from metal. This fascinating demonstration interprets the historical importance of the village blacksmith and provides an insight into industrial change in Victorian Britain. |
Traditional brick making |
Find out more about different structures and materials used in buildings and make your own brick. Then discover the social importance of brick making throughout history from Medieval to modern times and understand the role of children in the brickyards.
