Could you help us by becoming a Museum and Farm Sponsor?

Join us in keeping our Heritage alive!

The work of the Museum is only possible with the support of our dedicated volunteers. We need to raise around £300,000 a year. You can help us by joining our sponsorship programme. It's a great way to support us.

  • News three times a year about the Farm or Museum buildings according to your special interest
  • 'Update' newsletter three times a year
  • A free child or adult ticket to the Museum so you can visit the site
  • An invitation to a 'behind-the-scenes' event once a year
  • Perhaps most important of all, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you are helping to support all the work that goes on at the Museum and Farm.

Minimum donation just £5 a month

It's a great gift for friends and family

Chiltern Open Air Museum Buildings Collection

A unique collection of 32 restored Chilterns buildings of architectural and historic merit are sited in a beautiful 45 acre countryside site.

Vernacular buildings, the houses and workplaces of yesterday, are fast disappearing from our landscape. In this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so close to London, the pressures are particularly great. Help us restore and take care of our unique collection.

Thank you for helping us to preserve our heritage.

The Museum and farm are living snapshots of how life used to be in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our very special Victorian farmstead helps keep traditional Chilterns breeds alive. A unique collection of Chilterns buildings through the ages keeps our heritage alive.

The Farm
The farm features a collection of rare breeds, including Oxford Down sheep, goats, a Shire Horse and Silver Grey Dorking chickens. This traditional farm is a working model of Chilterns rural life in past ages. We are proud of our 1947 thrashing machine, recently refurbished at a cost of around £3000, and a recently constructed traditional Chilterns lambing fold. The farm is a source of fascination for visitors of all ages.
It costs over £800 a day to keep the Museum open. Without support from our volunteers and the public, we could not carry on our valuable work.

Museum and Farm Annual Costs:

Animal feed £1000
Building maintenance £6000
Historic paints £500
Traditional vehicle costs £2000

Your sponsorship today helps us:

  • take care of rare breeds
  • keep traditional farm and building traditions alive
