Hot LogoThe Hawk and Owl Trust is the only UK charity dedicated solely to the conservation of all wild birds of prey and their habitat. The Hawk and Owl Trust aims to do this through creative conservation, practical research and imaginative education.

The Hawk and Owl Trust's Conservation and Education Centre is at Chiltern Open Air Museum in one of the rescued buildings, a 19th century barn. From March to October, Skippings Barn is the base for a programme of environmental education activities for schools and groups and from April to October the exhibition in the centre is open to the public. There is also a programme of public activities for individuals and families during the school holidays.

There are no captive birds kept at the education centre but the Museum grounds provide good habitat for wild birds of prey and owls that roost and breed in nestboxes put up by the Trust.

The Hawk and Owl Trust is a membership organisation with local groups around the country getting involved in research and conservation projects. The Trust also encourages interested children and adults to befriend Britain's owls and other birds of prey by "adopting" one of the Trust's nestboxes. In return they receive news about activity in their boxes which are monitored by the Trust's conservationists.

The Hawk and Owl Trust produces a range of publications about birds of prey and their conservation which are available from the publications department.
