The museum contains a wide variety of buildings and sites suitable for private use. Some of the key facilities are as follows:
Northolt Barn (up to 70 seated, 100 standing). Originally from Smiths Farm in Northolt, Middlesex, this late 16th century barn was erected on the Museum site in the late 1980s. The Barn consists of a large uninterrupted space suitable for receptions, meetings and similar events up to 100 persons.
Arborfield Barn (up to 40 seated, 60 standing) Smaller than Northolt Barn, this late 15th century barn was originally located at Carters Hill Farm in Arborfield just outside Reading. Erected on the Museum site in 1979/80, it is now available for functions of up to 60 persons.
Astleham Meeting Room (meetings up to 15). Astleham Manor Cottage is a late 17th Century building originally from Shepperton in Middlesex. Re-erected on the Museum site in the mid 1990s, it now houses the administrative functions of the Museum. Part of these functions is a meeting room for up to 15, which is available for private use.
Thame Vicarage (up to 30 seated, 40 standing) Located in the Vicar of Thame's back garden, the Thame Vicarage Room was originally used as as a meeting room for church activities in the latter part of the 19th and early 20th century. The building was moved to the Museum site in the 1980s and following repair it was re-erected and completed by volunteers in 1990.
High Wycombe Furniture Factory (up to 30 seated). Elliott's Furniture Factory dates from the late 19th Century. As well as displaying artefacts relating to the High Wycombe furniture industry (including the Chesham Woodware Collection), the building contains a meeting room seating up to 30, as well as the Museum's Cafe and catering department.
Outdoor Events. The large 45 acre site contains a number of suitable (and beautiful) settings for outdoor activities ranging from Marquee events such as large receptions, specialist shows and exhibitions through to locations suitable for activities such as training and motivational days. In particular, Skippings and Thomas's Fields and Leagrave Common are well suited to these types of activities. |
