Campaign '45 - Meet 1940s Soldiers
27 - 28 March

As we reach the 65th anniversary of the end of World War Two in Europe, we invite you to join us to find out how our country prepared for the last battles of the War.

Explore our small English village as the Allied Airborne troops undergo training before the take off in gliders for the last jump across the River Rhine in Germany. This village is the centre of activity for the troops training. Visit the nurses and medical staff at the American Field Hospital as they help the casualties from the front lines.

Even with both British and American troops training here, the villagers must continue with their every day lives. The Home Guard continue to train, rationing is still on and home life must continue.

Elsewhere at the Museum our traditional countryside will become northern Europe, where a small number of German troops defend their homeland, also waiting for the final battles. Here the last messages will be sent on the infamous ENIGMA machine.

The re-enactors will be using first person interpretation throughout the weekend. This means that they are in 1945 and training for the battles to come.
