Iron Age Shelters School Workshop

Iron Age Shelters School Workshop

Our Iron Age shelters school workshop

This school workshop lasts for 60 minutes and accesses the children’s imaginations. The workshop leader will lead the children back in time to the Iron Age and will ask them to assemble shelters in our woodland using only the naturally occurring materials they find around them.

Children will discuss the different building materials available and explore the the use of materials with regard to: strength, water protection, warmth and comfort. They will build their own shelters, working as a team to ensure the best results. The class will explore the health and safety of shelter building. And will note good techniques used by others and evaluate their own shelters and make changes as a result.
