30th – 31st March 10am – 5pm
For this weekend only – explore the Museum by paying a donation only!
On Saturday 30 March, we’re opening for the 2019 season. On this day in celebration of English Tourism Week we will be officially opening our completed WWI Nissen hut to the public!
Join us for a special WWI living history event. See costumed re-enactors showing how the Tommies would relax on the home front and what weapons and kit they used when fighting. Nurse and chaplain re-enactors will demonstrate how they supported the troops on the front line and back home.
Visitors can take part in a poppy trail and dress up in WWI officer and nurse costumes.
On Saturday 30th March, there will also be the opportunity to chat to our Museum team about educational visits, group visits, experience days, weddings and event at the Museum, our Annual Pass scheme, volunteering, what we do here, our latest projects and how you can support us.
The event is part of a Heritage Lottery Funded project to rebuild a WWI Nissen hut on the Museum site to commemorate WWI in the Chilterns and to tell the stories of local war heroes.
