Learn about how the past inhabitants of our houses lived

25th August – 26th August 2019

August Bank Holiday

There are over 30 historic buildings at the Museum each of them was either the workplace or home of ordinary people from within the Chilterns area. Over Sunday and August Bank Holiday Monday a number of our historic buildings will be inhabited by costumed re-enactors and stewards who will be telling and showing visitors what life would have been like for past inhabitants.

Meet the toll house keeper’s wife, see what’s cooking in our Haddenham cottage, learn about straw plaiting in our Leagrave cottage, chat to the inhabitants of our 1940s prefab, meet the Iron Age man cooking his stew over the fire in our roundhouse and learn about the Victorian school in our Thame vicarage.

We will also be running some behind the scenes discovery sessions throughout the day.

Activities may be subject to change.
