Knit One, Purl One!
29th – 30th September 11am – 4pm
Knitting is a traditional craft that has been dated back to the 11th century in Eygpt. During WWI men, women and children knitted large volumes of clothing and accessories to help with the war effort making socks, scarves, sweaters, hats and balaclavas for the troops.
Join us for our special Wild About Wool knitting event and have a go at different types of traditional knitting. Discover different types of wool and help solve your knitting conundrums by talking to our friendly experts. The Bucks Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers will be demonstrating different wool crafts and there will be spinning demonstrations in our Northolt barn.
On both days you will have a chance to meet best-selling knitting pattern creator Fiona Goble. Fiona is the author of more than 20 books on knitting. In 2011, her book ‘Knit Your Own Royal Wedding’ (published to coincide with Prince William’s marriage) knocked Jamie Oliver off Amazon’s best sellers’ list. Fiona will be giving demonstrations, offering tips and taking questions on all types of knitting.
This event is suitable for all ages and levels, from beginners to experienced knitters.
There will be Folk music too! Hear traditional and modern Folk songs from The COAM Folk Collective on or around the village green.
All activities are weather dependent and subject to change.
Standard admission prices apply. Free entry for Annual Pass holders.
