Experience Day Terms and Conditions

Your experience voucher entitles the holder to the experience stated on it, and carries a unique serial number which must be quoted when making a booking. The voucher must be kept safely and securely and should be taken on the day of the experience and surrendered to the provider.

The placing of an order constitutes your acceptance of Chiltern Open Air Museum’s Terms and Conditions of trading but does not constitute the creation of a contract. Chiltern Open Air Museum reserves the right to decline to process an order for any reason whatsoever and if an order cannot be fulfilled, will promptly refund all monies.

Experience descriptions, formats and durations

Experience descriptions, format and timings given on Chiltern Open Air Museum’s website and in any other literature are only intended to present a general idea of the experience, and shall not be considered binding. Experience Days are not usually exclusive and there may be other participants taking part. Maximum participant numbers for each experience day can be found on the Museum’s website.

Experiences may occasionally be withdrawn for reasons outside of our control, and Chiltern Open Air Museum will offer a full refund to the voucher’s purchaser as long as the expiry date of the voucher has not passed and the experience has not been taken. Chiltern Open Air Museum cannot be held liable for any costs incurred as a result of this.

Dates will usually be made available via Chiltern Open Air Museum’s website (unless other arrangements) are confirmed in writing, and the recipient is free to book one of these dates. Experiences are subject to availability and, in some cases, may be subject to weather conditions. To avoid disappointment please book well in advance, and we recommend booking as early as possible as the experience must have been undertaken before the expiry date printed on the voucher.

Most experiences are subject to restrictions, which may include (but are not limited to) age, physical and medical restrictions. Details of these restrictions are available on Chiltern Open Air Museum’s website. If you are unsure of the suitability please telephone us and we will be happy to advise you.

Participants in some experience days may be asked to sign a disclaimer, and participation in that day will be conditional upon the disclaimer being satisfactorily completed.

The voucher holder is welcome to bring a spectator (who may not take part in the experience) but any additional spectators will be asked to pay the Museum’s regular admission price.

We reserve the right to vary the prices of the experiences which we offer. Prices shown include V.A.T when and where applicable.

Chiltern Open Air Museum cannot be held responsible for any goods damaged in the post or any postal delays.

Vouchers are valuable documents which cannot be replaced if they are lost, damaged or stolen and are invalid if altered or tampered with. Chiltern Open Air Museum accepts no liability in these circumstances.

Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated. Experiences must be booked and undertaken prior to the expiry date printed on the front of the voucher, and it is the responsibility of the voucher holder to ensure that they book and take their experience before their voucher expires.

If you can’t take your experience within the validity period, and provided the voucher has not expired, you may be able to extend it for an additional 12 months upon payment of an administration fee of £20.

If the price of your experience has increased you will also be asked to pay the difference between the new experience price and the value of your voucher.

Refunds can be made on unused vouchers within 14 days of purchase. A refund cannot be given once a booking has been made or after the voucher has expired. Refunds can only be made to the purchaser and the monies will be refunded directly to the original method of payment.

Experience providers

By purchasing or redeeming an experience day voucher you acknowledge that experiences are dependent on certain factors beyond Chiltern Open Air Museum’s control and agree that Chiltern Open Air Museum is not liable for the cancellation, postponement or alteration of any experience for reasons beyond its reasonable control. Please note that experiences and other products are subject to change without notice. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Problems on the day

We welcome your feedback on all of our experiences. If you encounter a problem on the day, please let us know immediately so that we have a chance to put matters right.

If an experience is cancelled by Chiltern Open Air Museum or one of its experience providers either before or on the day of the event due to circumstances beyond their control, Chiltern Open Air Museum will re-book the participant at a mutually agreed time but cannot be held liable for any costs incurred. Chiltern Open Air Museum’s total liability for any claim in connection with one of its experiences shall be limited to the price paid for the experience.

If the participant wishes to cancel a booking this can usually be accommodated if Chiltern Open Air Museum is notified in writing at least four weeks before the booking date (and an acknowledgment is received). Cancellations after this period may only be accepted if the place is re-booked by another participant, in which case the voucher-holder will be able to re-book onto a different date and take their experience before their voucher expires. No refund will be offered in the case of failure to comply with these conditions.

Liability cover

All voucher holders are covered by Chiltern Open Air Museum’s Public Liability insurance policy and are indemnified against damage to equipment they use, and against liabilities to third parties, subject to limits and compliance with the rules, terms and conditions of the experience provider.
