Volunteering at Chiltern Open Air Museum

We have a number of exciting and rewarding volunteering opportunities available, with flexible hours to suit you. Volunteering at Chiltern Open Air Museum not only provides us with the vital support that we need to keep the Museum running, but it’s also an excellent opportunity to meet lots of different and interesting people.  Plus, it’s the perfect way to learn new skills and give your CV a boost.

We are currently seeking volunteers for the following roles:

Art Department Volunteers

Our fun and creative events team at our friendly and welcoming Museum would you like to use your creativity and design skills to help add to our amazing events programme and make a real difference in the local community. We are looking for creative individuals to design, make and install props and interpretation for the Museum. You can work from home or your workshop or come and work with us here at the office. Marketing Assistant Volunteer

We’re seeking a part-time marketing assistant to join our Communications Team to help the Marketing Manager promote the Museum and its diverse programme, including events, education and weddings. Find out more

Volunteer Costumed Interpreters

Are you looking for a more historic way to spend your weekends?

We’re looking for volunteer costumed interpreters to be the life blood of our visitors’ experience. From our Iron Age roundhouse, to the 1940s prefab, we have some 2000 years of history for you to live, breathe and bring to life for others.

General volunteering

Please contact us to find out about general volunteering roles available such as stewarding one of our buildings, working in our ticket office and tea room, or if you’d like to get involved behind-the-scenes with the Artefact, Library, Marketing or Gardening Volunteer teams.
