Iron Age Life Home Learners Workshop

20th April 2017

This workshop is for home learners.

  • Most appropriate for KS2-aged children
  • This session will last for 60 minutes and will begin at 2.30pm

During this workshop you will learn about Iron Age settlements and the growth of animal husbandry and farming. In reference to this, you will grind grain and create flatbreads which are cooked over the open fire in our replica roundhouse; you will then create butter from cream and fashion clay pottery.

You will leave this workshop having made a small clay pot to take home. Please bring a cardboard box to transport these safely back home.

Additional Information

PLEASE NOTE that workshops are offered for adults and children to learn alongside each other and that a maximum of 20 spaces are available for each session.  We offer these workshops on the understanding that designated adults will be nominated to supervise all attending children in a ratio of 1:6. Museum educators will lead all aspects of engagement and  management during the session but will not act in loco-parentis: it is expected that accompanying adults will act in a loco-parentis role throughout the duration of the workshop.

Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. In the unlikely event that the workshop does not receive the minimum number of booked places (10) we will, regretfully, have to cancel the session.  In these circumstances, all those who have booked places will be notified and a full refund will be offered.

Places on these workshops MUST be pre-booked and are charged at £10.50 for non Annual Pass holders and £5 for Annual Pass holders. (This price is inclusive of admission). Annual Pass holders must present their valid Annual Pass on the day.
