Events at Chiltern Open Air Museum in Buckinghamshire

At Chiltern Open Air Museum we pride ourselves on having some of the best family events in Buckinghamshire. The Museum’s aim is to tell the historic stories of people from the Chilterns, how they lived, dressed and went about their everyday lives. We tell these stories via our exhibit buildings, interpretation, experience days and the special living history events that we hold. We tell the stories of the Chilterns in a way that is educational and fun for everyone.

We aim to hold an exciting special eventĀ or activity on most weekends during the season. Every Tuesday during Buckinghamshire school holidays is a Terrific Tuesday; where our Education Team puts on themed activities and crafts.

ThereĀ are plenty of living history events including Roman Gladiators, Ragged Victorians, WW1 Living history and more. You can also enjoy a range of traditional events including Bushcraft, the Classic Vehicle Show and Traditional Harvest event.

During the summer months we have special evening outdoor theatre performances and COAM also holds night-time openings: The Enchanted Museum in May and the incredible Halloween Spectacular in October both are unforgettable nights out for the whole family!

Our award winning schools programme welcomes over 21,000 school visitors each year for workshops in prehistory, literacy, science and history. We also run special event days for home educators and uniformed groups.

In addition there are 45 acres, over 30 rescued buildings, a historic working farm, adventure playground and woodland to explore.
