Wild About Wool: Handicrafts & Heritage

Join us for this special event celebrating the heritage of textile crafts.
Enjoy a range of live demonstrations and hands-on activities, from knitting and spinning to felting and rug-making. Explore creative displays and chat with knowledgeable experts whoโll be happy to help with your crafting questions.
There will be opportunities to try out different techniques (some activities may carry a small additional charge), as well as themed talks and demonstrations taking place across the weekend.
Discover the Importance of Wool Crafts in WW1
Talk to expert re-enactors and discover the role of knitting and textiles in WW1. Discover how wool garments helped soldiers survive the trenches and the roles women played in keeping the army supplied with handmade clothing.

Try Different Wool Crafts
Our passionate volunteers will help you try out knitting & crochet, while local yarnbombers and enthusiastic crafters display their creations.
Hands On Activities
Have a go a wet felting and find out how to craft exquisite artworks from simple wool.

Activities take place between 11am and 4pm

With 45 acres at your disposal, there is plenty to explore, including woodlands and an exciting adventure playground
Dogs on short leads are welcome but must not go inside residential buildings
Light lunches, drinks, cakes and snacks are available to purchase from our Skippings Barn
Sensory backpacks are available to borrow (subject to availability)
Mobility scooters are available to borrow (subject to availability - pre-booking is advised)
Lots of free parking
