Discover the Napoleonic Era
The Napoleonic Era (1799โ1815) was a time of sweeping change, dramatic conflict, and unforgettable personalities. Born from the aftermath of the French Revolution, it saw the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte and a series of wars that reshaped Europe, influenced global politics, and transformed the way armies were raised, trained, and fought.
The Napoleonic Wars were a defining event of the early 19th century, and inspired many works of fiction. Seen on screen in Sharpe the era continues to fascinate audiences in the present day.
Living History Encampments & Warfare Demonstrations
At this living history event, the sights and sounds of the early 19th century come alive. From the uniforms and drill of the common soldier to the daily life of civilians caught in an age of empire, revolution, and resilience.
Step back into a world of musket smoke, thundering hooves, and gain an insight into the encampments where soldiers and their wives lived during this momentous time.
Displays throughout the day include the rifles gathering for drills, horse mounted cavalry displaying their skills, canon-firing, weapons competitions and an epic skirmish that brings the Napoleonic battlefield to life.
